History: Established in 1899 at the London Docks, LSHTM has evolved and now has its main sites at Keppel Street and Tavistock Place in Bloomsbury, with additional sites in The Gambia and Uganda. Presently, our dedicated staff, students, and alumni are active in various sectors globally, including government, academia, international agencies, and health services.

Research: Research funding at LSHTM has surged to over £190 million annually, sourced from national and international entities such as the UK government, research councils, the European Union, the Wellcome Trust, Gates Foundation, and other philanthropic sources. Our research spans diverse domains, contributing to our leadership in public and global health, with projects underway in over 100 countries.

Staff Community: With approximately 3,500 staff worldwide, our core hubs are in London and at the MRC Units in The Gambia and Uganda. Our committed staff actively engage in impactful research, responding to crises in real time, developing innovative health programs, and training the next generation of public and global health leaders.

Partnerships: Collaboration is integral to our mission, and our strategic partnerships across high-, middle-, and low-income countries yield health and socioeconomic benefits, particularly in disadvantaged communities. LSHTM is a member of prestigious alliances, including the M8 Alliance and the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region.

Education: We provide research-led educational programs to future health leaders globally, with around 1,200 face-to-face Master's and Doctoral students, 3,000 engaged in distance learning, and 500 participating annually in short courses and continuous professional development. Our global impact is evident through free online courses accessed by over 300,000 participants worldwide.
