Edinburgh Napier University, also known as Oilthigh Napier Dhùn Èideann in Scottish Gaelic, is a public institution situated in the vibrant city of Edinburgh, Scotland. Its roots trace back to 1964 when it was established as Napier Technical College, named after the renowned 16th-century Scottish mathematician and philosopher, John Napier. The institution underwent a significant transformation in 1992 when it was granted university status by Lord Douglas-Hamilton, evolving into Napier University. In 2009, it adopted its current name, Edinburgh Napier University.

The university operates across three main campuses in Edinburgh: Merchiston, Craiglockhart, and Sighthill. Boasting a diverse student body, the institution accommodates over 19,500 individuals, including those attending on-campus courses in Scotland and those enrolled in transnational programs worldwide. In 2018, the student population featured nearly 9,500 international and EU students representing more than 140 countries globally.
